Hightlights of nuwakot
Suryachaur: A hill station offering panoramic views of the Langtang Himalayan Range and the entire Likhu Valley. Located at an elevation of 1,970 meters, it provides a serene environment for nature enthusiasts and trekkers.
Thanapati Temple in the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park offers a tranquil setting amidst nature. The temple is situated in a serene location, accessible via hiking trails, providing visitors with a peaceful retreat.

Nuwakot Durbar: An 18th-century seven-storey palace built by King Prithvi Narayan Shah, serving as a strategic military and administrative center during Nepal's unification. Despite earthquake damage, restoration efforts are ongoing.
Bhairabi Temple: A 400-year-old pagoda-style temple dedicated to the goddess Bhairabi, featuring a golden roof made using 30 tolas of gold
Dupcheshwor Temple: Located 35 kilometers east of Nuwakot’s district headquarters at Bidur, the Dupcheshwor Temple is settled on the banks of the Tandi River. The temple is one of the most popular temples of Lord Shiva and is also known as the second Pashupatinath.
Trek Route Overview
Embark on a scenic journey from Kathmandu, beginning with a drive to Suryachaur, a serene hill station approximately 1.5 hours away. Located at an altitude of 1,970 meters, Suryachaur offers panoramic views of the Langtang, Ganesh, and Manaslu mountain ranges, along with the entire Likhu Valley of Nuwakot District.
From Suryachaur, proceed to Lauke Waterfall, situated about 21–24 km from Tokha. The journey takes you through picturesque landscapes, including Gurje Bhanjyang and Sunkhani. Lauke Waterfall comprises two cascading falls Thulo Chahare and Sano Chahare nestled in a serene environment.
After visiting the waterfall, head towards Thanpati Temple, a revered site in the region known for its spiritual significance and tranquil surroundings.
Conclude your trek with a stay at Shivapuri Green Homestay, situated in the foothills of Shivapuri National Park. The homestay offers an authentic experience, with opportunities to engage in nature walks, organic farming activities, and immerse yourself in the local culture. Enjoy traditional Nepali hospitality and relish organic meals prepared with fresh produce from the homestay's garden.
After a hearty breakfast at your homestay, embark on a journey towards Chahhare Bazar, a bustling local market in the Likhu area of Nuwakot District. From there, continue your trek towards Raksashowr, a serene spot known for its natural beauty. The trail meanders through dense forests, offering a peaceful ambiance and opportunities to observe local wildlife.
Following your exploration of Raksashowr, proceed with a hike through the jungle to reach Nateshwori Temple, a sacred Hindu site dedicated to Devi Vagawoti. The temple is renowned for its spiritual significance and is considered an open-air dancing theatre of gods and goddesses. It is believed to be the elder sister of the Badimalika Temple, with rituals performed by two sets of priests: the Thakuri priests and the Bhramin Joshi. Major festivals like Dashain, Janai Purnima, and Chaite Dashain are celebrated here, attracting devotees from across Nepal and even India.
After paying your respects at the temple, enjoy a traditional Nepali dinner at a local guesthouse. Following some rest, descend back to Chahhare Bazar, where you'll spend the night, reflecting on the day's spiritual and natural experiences.
After breakfast, begin your journey towards Nuwakot Palace, a historic palace complex with rich cultural significance. The Durbar, known for its architectural beauty and historical importance, offers a glimpse into the past and provides stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. Spend some time exploring the Durbar and learning about the region's history.
Next, head to the nearby Bhairabi Temple, Nuwakot, an important religious site for the locals. The temple, dedicated to Hindu deities, is a peaceful place where you can enjoy the serenity and spiritual ambiance. After visiting the temple, savor a traditional Nepali dinner at a local guesthouse, reflecting on the day's experiences.
After dinner, continue your journey towards Dupcheswor Mahadev, a scenic location surrounded by lush greenery. Take a moment to enjoy the views and relax in the natural surroundings.
