Located just 32 kilometers east of Kathmandu, Nagarkot is a well-loved hill station perched at an altitude of 2,175 meters. It offers one of the broadest Himalayan panoramas in the Kathmandu Valley. On a clear day, you can catch views of Mount Everest, Manaslu, Annapurna range, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Gaurishankar, and more. Tour Overview
Tour starts early with a hotel pickup in Kathmandu. You’ll then take a scenic drive (approximately 1 hour) to Sankhu, a beautiful ancient town located on the northeastern edge of the valley. This is the starting point of your hike.
From Sankhu, the 4-hour uphill hike to Nagarkot begins. The trail leads you through terraced fields, dense forests, and peaceful traditional villages. Along the way, you’ll witness daily rural life farmers tending to their fields, children playing, and locals greeting you with a warm “Namaste.” It’s a perfect opportunity to capture authentic cultural photos and truly experience the heart of Nepal.
What to Expect in Nagarkot?
As you ascend toward Nagarkot, the mountain views gradually begin to appear. Once at the top, you'll be greeted with a 360-degree panoramic view of the Himalayas, rolling green hills, and the terraced valleys of Bhaktapur district. If the weather cooperates, you might even catch a glimpse of Mount Everest in the distance.
